Member for Groom Dr John McVeigh is urging local community organisations to apply for a Volunteer Grant of up to $5000.
“There were 30 Groom organisations which benefited from the previous round with more than $90 000 in funding coming into the region ” he said.
“Cambooya State School secured $5000 for first aid safety; Highfields Junior Rugby secured $5000 for electronic equipment and Toowoomba South Little Athletics put $3091 towards training for its volunteers.”
“These grants can be used by organisations for anything that helps with costs incurred by their volunteers such as first aid training background security checks or transport for volunteers who may have a disability.
“Community organisations can also purchase much-needed equipment such as iPads or printers so they can keep pace with technology ” Dr McVeigh said.
